Learn how to sync text and audio, edit caption timing, choose export formats and work with connected agents.

Caption layout

Line, Word and highlighting

Choose how the same timed words are grouped on screen, then optionally highlight the word that is currently playing.

Layout does not change the sync

Line and Word are presentation modes built from the same word-level timing. You can switch between them freely without aligning the audio again.

Line view

Use Line when you want conventional subtitle-style captions. Lines per caption controls how many text lines can appear together in one caption block.

Use your original line breaks

Original line breaking follows the line structure in the source transcript, script or lyrics. This works well when you already formatted the text intentionally, such as lyric lines or a prepared subtitle script.

Use automatic line breaking

Auto creates readable line breaks from the timed words. It considers punctuation, speech pauses, line length, line balance and weaker language cues instead of relying on one rule alone.

Word view

Use Word when you want smaller timed groups rather than full subtitle lines. Words per caption controls how many words are displayed together before Synclyr advances to the next group.

Highlight active word is a separate option

Active-word highlighting can be used with either Line or Word view. The full current caption remains visible while the word being spoken or sung receives the highlight.

Line view with highlighting

This combination works well when you want viewers to read a normal caption while still following the exact word currently playing. It keeps more context on screen than Word view.

Word view with highlighting

This combination keeps less text on screen at once while still marking the active word. It can work well for compact lyric, social or language-learning style captions.

Changing grouping does not spend processing minutes

Layout, line breaking, words per caption, lines per caption and highlighting are all presentation settings. They reuse the existing sync and do not run audio processing again.
