Common questions
Short answers to the things people usually want to know first.
Do I need to sync again after editing captions?
No. Correcting text, changing caption timing, splitting or merging captions, and editing word highlight timing all use the sync you already have.
Does editing captions use sync minutes?
No. Sync minutes are used when Synclyr needs to sync or resync audio and source text.
Can Synclyr get the text from my audio?
Yes. Turn on Get text from my audio before you sync and Synclyr will transcribe the audio first.
What is the difference between Line and Word?
Line groups the timed words into subtitle style lines. Word shows smaller groups based on the Words per caption setting.
Can I change the timing of one word?
Yes. Turn on Highlight active word, open Edit captions, choose Edit word timing from the caption menu, and select the word you want to adjust.
Will changing Line or Word change my sync?
No. Both layouts use the same word timing. Your text corrections stay with the project, while manual splits and merges stay with the layout where you made them.
What happens if I choose Back to audio & text?
You can change the source audio or text without deleting the last successful sync. If you decide not to resync, you can go back to the saved result.
Which export should I use for word highlighting?
Use ASS when you want exact highlight start and end timing. VTT can keep when each word starts, but the web player controls the visual highlighting.
